Yesterday we took a colectivo van to Xcacel-Xcacelito to meet some homeschooling friends. It is located in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
We got there somewhat early and had the small cenote to ourselves for a bit on and off. It’s set in the middle of the mangroves with a raised walkway leading to it. No swimming yet for me (I’ve got an earache now too!), but Kiddo had a blast checking it out. There were soooo many fish!
Afterwards we met the group on the beach and the kids had fun digging, wall building, playing in the waves, etc. before a final trip to the cenote and then the journey back.
Here’s a few pics from the day!
The van dropped us off on the side of the road in what seems like the middle of nowhere, barely even a sign! This long road leads to the beach and cenote.
The sign is not very visible from the road
As we walked further down the road we saw this sign. Thankfully the only one of those creatures we saw was a crab.
So cool to have the cenote to ourselves! for awhile!
All the little dark smudges in the water are fish, not leaves or anything!
At least I was able to wade in the shallow water. Lots of fish here too!
A raised walkway leads through the mangroves to the cenote
This stretch of the beach was completely empty. It was a red flag day so no swimming here.
