Minnesota chain serves up vegan pizza

Pizza Luce boxOur family recently took a mini-vacation to the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota (a Minneapolis suburb) in order to visit the Lego store.

And while we didn’t have a huge success finding much in the way of vegan food at the Mall, what we did come across was a fabulous local chain offering vegan pizza, deserts and other goodies!

Pizza Luce has six restaurants across the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, plus one in Duluth. In addition to the plentiful in-restaurant dining options, they also serve a wide delivery area and have convenient online ordering.  Note that while they don’t serve all of Bloomington, their Richfield branch delivers to some of the hotels closest to the Mall.

We were pleased to find out they have a separate vegan menu. (To me that means vegan orders must be commonplace, and lends confidence that the cook staff will know what vegan means and how to prepare our fare appropriately.) Menu choices include pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches and more, including desert! In addition to offering Daiya as a vegan cheese alternative, they also make their own tofu/cashew-based un-cheese they call Rinotta.

Their online ordering system made it easy for us to see all our options in one place, take our time in deciding, know exactly how much it would cost and how long it would take to arrive. The order was placed fairly quickly and a delivery time of under an hour was given. The overall cost was mid range, certainly not to be considered cheap food, but nor was it outrageous.

The delivery driver arrived on time, was pleasant and even brought the goods straight to our hotel room! The pizza, cheese bread and deserts we ordered were all tasty and plentiful. We tried both Daiya and Rinotta on our pizzas and both were a hit. The deserts we ordered were also scrumptious and portion sizes were large.

We would definitely order from Pizza Luce again! I look forward to sampling more of their options and perhaps visiting their restaurants during future visits to Minnesota.
